Meet the Church Leaders

Rev. Stephen Jones

Minister - Teaching Elder

Rev. Stephen Jones grew up as a country boy who came to know Jesus at age 18. Since then he has fallen in love with Jesus and his gospel message of grace and hope. Stephen is happily married to the ever patient Martina and together they are raising their four noisy kids. Stephen has been the minister at Melton Presbyterian Church since the start of 2015.

Dennis Wright

Ruling Elder and Session Clerk

Dennis Wright has been involved with the congregation since the early 90’s. He is a hard worker who has helped guide the church through some really difficult times. He is well supported by his loving and also hard working wife Glenys and they have three adult children and a growing number of beautiful grandchildren.

Jim Orton

Ruling Elder

Jim and his wife Julie joined Melton Presbyterian Church in 2003 and came into membership in 2004. Jim brings to the Church a background of Administration and organisational skills and he has served within the Church as a Sunday School Teacher, Small Group leader and Deacon. They have two children and two grandchildren and share a passion for ministering to the elderly at Sutton Park Assisted Aged Care and those requiring emergency food distribution at CCCM.

Barry Townsend

Ruling Elder

Barry came to know Jesus as a teenager and has been a member here in Melton for over 10 years. With Marion, his New Zealand wife for over 50 years, he has been actively involved in leading and serving in churches in many different capacities. They love their three adult children and one grandchild, and they love to pray and encourage others in the church with a kind word.

Colin Phillips

Assessor Elder

Colin Phillips is the senior elder in our congregation and has been ably helping out Melton Presbyterian Church for decades even though he is also an Elder at Sunshine Presbyterian Church. He is assisted by his loving and lovely wife Margaret and their particular passion is sharing Jesus at the monthly aged care centre service.
